Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) have attracted significant attention as next-generation energy-storage systems beyond common lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), due to their high energy density potential and low-cost materials.
Lithium-ion battery electrolytes based on biodegradable polymers may offer advantages in recycling. Here, we present an eco-friendly quasi-solid lithium-ion battery employing gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) made from pectin and polyethylene glycol, paired with LiFePO 4 cathodes.
1. Introduction The growing demand for advanced energy storage systems, emphasizing high safety and energy density, has driven the evolution of lithium metal batteries (LMBs) from liquid-based electrolytes to solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) in recent years.
It has become an urgent need to use non-liquid electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) in order to enhance their safety, energy density, and longevity. The solution to mitigate dendrite growth, ensure electrolyte stability, improve ionic conductivity, and maintain robust interfacial compatibility are challenges to the research community.
The energy density of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) can be meaningfully increased by utilizing Si-on-graphite composites (Si@Gr) as anode materials, because of several advantages, including higher specific capacity and low cost. However, long cycling stability is a key challenge for commercializing these composites.
