Broadly speaking, there are two types: rigid and flexible. The rigid type is straight. The flexible type is either bent or curved. A rigid solar tube gives off more light than a flexible one because it offers a straight path for sunlight down to the end of the tube. This makes the rigid solar tube better for longer distances.
There is effectively a flow and return pipe inside the manifold. Each of the tubes has an internal tube approximately 6mm diameter and external tube approximately 12mm diameter. The solar transfer medium (normally propylene glycol eg: Tyfocor, Fernox, Solaris and others) is is pumped down the anulus of external tube and up the internal tube.
Direct flow single wall evacuated tubes ( DFSWEVT) have been fitted to solar thermal systems for many years. Examples of these are: Thermomax DF 100, DF 400, Viessmann 200 T. Direct flow evacuated tubes have the advantage of being able to be fitted at any angle, including horizontally.
A rigid solar tube gives off more light than a flexible one because it offers a straight path for sunlight down to the end of the tube. This makes the rigid solar tube better for longer distances. The flexible type is more suitable for short distances and flat roofs.
The following are the primary components of a solar tubing system: Rooftop dome: Collects and focuses sunlight into the tube. Made of UV-protected acrylic or glass. Reflective tubing: Lined with a mirror-like film that reflects up to 99.7% of light. Angles down into interior space.
The basic design of a solar tube consists of three main components: the dome on the roof that collects sunlight, the reflective tubing that channels it down to your interior space and an attractive diffuser lens which spreads natural light evenly throughout your room.

Boiler heat recuperation equipment
The heat recuperation system for an old or new boiler, uses waste heat in the pipe between the boiler and the chimney. The system has members incorporated in the pipe itself and uses a plug (10) which is fitted into the wall of the tube. Inside the pipe is a collector tube (4) which is heated by the flue gases. An electronic control unit (7) is operated which opens a magnetic valve (6) …
