The optimal parameter identification of lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery models is essential for accurately capturing battery behavior and performance in electric vehicle (EV) applications.
Both offline and online methods can be used for parameter identification of the ECM. Offline parameter identification methods require sufficient laboratorial labor, to collect enough measurement data for parameter extraction . But we cannot test the Li-ion battery covering all its working conditions.
Considering the fractional-order characteristics, only algorithms such as GA, PSO [80, 82], or nonlinear least squares method [83, 84] can be used for parameter identification. Besides, some battery models are proposed to utilize the advantages of different modeling techniques.
In addition, no comparison methods and discussions have existed in the above studies. The publications in Scopus are investigated between 2012 and 2022 with the item “battery parameter identification”. It is generally acknowledged that battery parameter identification is critical to state estimation and EV applications.
This paper proposed a framework for validating and identifying lithium-ion batteries’ model parameters to enhance the accuracy of SOC estimation by reducing modeling errors in the N-order Thevenin equivalent circuit model. The proposed framework comprises two stages: (1) model verification, and (2) model parameter identification.
The battery identification parameters are optimised with the use of an Equilibrium Algorithm (EA) (Shaheen et al., 2021). These algorithms explore the parameter space to find the best-fit values that minimize the discrepancy between the model predictions and the observed battery behavior.
