Currently, no tank-type capacitor is matched in Addis Ababa power system. From the data available, there is no earthquake over five degrees of Magnitude in Ethiopia, especially in the Addis Ababa Capital Region.
The good quality infrastructure for Addis Ababa Capital Region, regarding transformers, includes Applicable Quality Infrastructure such as Amorphous Transformers (AMT) and traditional (Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Electrical (CRGO)) transformers.
The distribution automation capability installation is planned under AADRUP. The plan relies on the existing HV transmission telecommunication network. (Applicable Quality Infrastructure for Addis Ababa Capital Region are shown below.)
The distribution loss in Addis Ababa is assumed to be 20% to 22.7%, which is higher than the international level of 12% to 13%5,6. The distribution loss percentage is a significant issue that is being addressed through the AADMP project under EEP's plan.
