It is indicated that the lithium-ion battery, supercapacitor and flywheel storage technologies show promising prospects in storing photovoltaic energy for power supply to buildings.
Presently, as the world advances rapidly towards achieving net-zero emissions, lithium-ion battery (LIB) energy storage systems (ESS) have emerged as a critical component in the transition away from fossil fuel-based energy generation, offering immense potential in achieving a sustainable environment.
3.2.1. Hybrid photovoltaic-battery energy storage system With the descending cost of battery, BES (Battery Energy Storage) is developing in a high speed towards the commercial utilization in building . Batteries store surplus power generation in the form of chemical energy driven by external voltage across the negative and positive electrodes.
Therefore, it is significant to investigate the integration of various electrical energy storage (EES) technologies with photovoltaic (PV) systems for effective power supply to buildings. Some review papers relating to EES technologies have been published focusing on parametric analyses and application studies.
